general camp information

Basics

  • We offer camps for elementary aged children, ages 5 to 9.  Children are split into groups depending on total number of children and ages.
  • If you have a child who has been to camp before and aged up, they can attend up to age 11.
  • We are located at 2180 N. Salem St. in between Laura Duncan Rd and 64, in the strip of brick businesses.
  • We have 3 spaces we use - our Art Room, Middle Room & Drama Room.
  • Drop off is anytime after 8:30 and pick up is anytime before 5:30 at $300 for the full week.
  • Children do not need to arrive right at 8:30.  We start our morning rotations around 9:30.
  • Signing your child in and out (including the name of the person picking up) is required.
  • Your child will need a lunch, a water bottle, and 2 snacks.
  • We recommend children wear clothes that can get messy
  • Please bring an extra set of clothes.
  • Each week the children rehearse a skit which is recorded on Thursdays or Fridays.  We post the performance on an app so parents can enjoy watching their children at their convenience.  *Note - half day campers may not be able to participate in the weekly play as our schedules need to be flexible at times.
  • Contact us for half day options.

Enrollment and Payment

  • FOR THE SUMMER - NEW CANCELLATION POLICY

Due to the high demand for camps last summer and a large number of cancellations,

any cancellations needed for camps June 5 - Aug 28 must be made by MAY 26.

All cancellations made on or before May 26 will incur a 15% admin fee or you can

receive a full credit to use another time.

No refunds or credits will be given for cancellation made after May 26.

Thank you for your support and understanding!

  • Enrollment for the upcoming week closes Thursday mornings.
  • Cancellations for non-summer sessions will be honored up to 14 days prior to the camp start date at which time full refunds will be given.   50% of tuition fee will be refunded for cancelations made within 13 days of camp start date, or a credit given.
  • Changes to enrollment days (adding a day or taking away a day) cannot be made same week as registered.
  • Class schedules may be subject to change due to low enrollment or long wait lists.  In the event of low enrollment and classes being canceled, full refunds will be given.
  • ***If you are added to our waitlist, camp is FULL for that week; however if spaces open up, those on the waitlist will be contacted.

Staff

  • We staff according to the number of children attending camp. It is a 10 to 1 ratio.
  • The first hour of a typical CAMP day children have games, puzzles, and building type toys to enjoy some free play time. It also allows staff the time to greet parents signing their children in and prepare for the day.

Parent Responsibilities

  • Any medications provided must be current.  We cannot accept any expired medications (including epipens, inhalers, etc.).
  • PLEASE be sure staff is aware of any special needs, or allergies your child may have.
  • PLEASE understand that some of the projects and the video of the camp’s skit/play are posted on the Art of STEM Facebook page. If you are not comfortable with this, it is your responsibility to make the staff aware of it in writing.

Use of Technology

  • Rudimentary coding and simple animation projects are incorporated into the day’s activities.
  • Children will be permitted up to 20 minutes of (age/educationally appropriate apps only) “Free Choice Tech Time”  This allows children to explore various creative, age appropriate apps and games as well as have some down time.

Weather Policy

  • In the event of inclement weather, safety is our number one priority.  We may not follow Wake Co. Schools but we will keep our families informed via email and text messages.  We will monitor situations and as long as staff are safely able to make it into the facility and power is in tact, we will remain open.  Please use your best discretion when traveling in these situations.  Continue to check your email and phones for updates.  There will be no partial refunds for weather closings.
